A hoedown, for listeners who have no idea what in the hell we’re referencing, is from the old fine British improvisation comedy show Whose Line Is It Anyway? It’s a catchy tune where the performers have to improv a four line rhyming song about a given topic, and I say now from experience that it’s much, MUCH harder than it looks!
