I’m listening to Sunless Citadel Number Five while I’m painting a trio of 25mm Ghouls from Em-4.

And I’m hearing Lindsay complain about her ability with those tricky number nines – I sympathize with your mathematical difficulties I ain’t as hot as I feel I should working out ‘numbery things’ in my bonce.

Here’s a tip which I found out recently hope it helps! I wish I knew about it when I was at school:

    Quote:
When I was learning my times tables, my

teacher taught me a special trick for learning the 9’s. Here’s how it

    works:

Hold your two hands together so that all of your ten fingers are out

in front of you. Give your fingers numbers from 1 to 10 from left to

right, so the pinky on your left hand is 1, and the ring finger is 2.

Keep going like that. (Your left hand thumb is 5, your right hand

thumb is 6 … all the way up to your right hand pinky, which is 10.)

Now think of what number you want to multiply by 9. Let’s choose 4 as

an example. The number you are multiplying by 9 is 4, so fold down

your fourth finger (The index finger on your left hand.) Now look at

your two hands. See how there are 3 fingers up, then 1 down, then 6

more up? We read this as 4 times 9 is 36.

Try it again, this time with 6. Fold down your 6th finger (Your right

hand thumb.) See how there are 5 fingers up, then one down, then 4

    more up: 9 times 6 is 54.

Do you see the pattern? You look at the number of fingers to the left

side of the folded down finger to find out what number is in the 10s

column of the answer, and you look to the right of the folded down

finger to find the number in the ones column.

That trick only works for the 9’s. I wish I had tricks like that for

the other ones too, but I don’t. All I can say is keep trying.

If anyone has any similar maths ‘tricks’ PM me about them (I need all the help I can get)

Good stuff, Sinister. Now, have you got anything that would help Hal remember when numbers are divisible by five?

I haven’t noticed him do that on the recordings.

One other thing I’d like to say about The Sunless Citadel is I really like the opening narration it really sets the mood – It’s nice to have a different voice than one of the players, it makes it sound like some ultra-posh filmic opening; ‘especially like the way she says “goblins infest the place”.

    However a slight improvement could be made in my opinion. The text read is (roughly);

‘Beneath the cracked cobblestones of the old road lies the remains of a fortress long ago swallowed by the earth, goblins infest the place and grow unholy fruits in the darkness below. A small band of inexperienced adventures have travelled there and not returned, local townsfolk are concerned and enlist our brave heroes to see if they can find out what had befallen them. What mysterious evil will be unearthed? What has befallen the young explorers from the town? Will our party of brave heroes emerge unscathed? RPGMP3.com presents a classic adventure for Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 played through in its entirety. Follow our brave heroes as they descend into the darkness of …The Sunless Citadel.’

This is probably me being really really picky, but the highlighted sentence breaks the fantastic atmosphere. This opening ‘Presents’ bit should be at the beginning because, where it is now it interrupts the flow and bring us crashing back to reality, and then tries to return to the mood it has just killed afterwards.

    Cracking bit of writing though.

I was arsing with Audition trying to make Lindsay sound younger 😀 I also sped it up ever so slightly. I think she sounds like the Red Queen from the first Resident Evil movie 😛

Wonder what the narrative intro for the next game will sound like! I meant to have to ready for today but with the stuff landing it has kicked me back a little! I will work on it and get it out by early next week and then it will be every second Friday for my new game 😀

Plus there is other stuff to fill the gaps 😀

Would you like the new game to have it’s own podcast feed? My intention is to take it as high as I can, possibly even into Epic levels if they survive that long 😉

    Opinions ? 😛

It should have it own podcast and I would love to here epic level play I hope the PCs last that long. 😀 It might be a little strange though with out a super broken Steve character… I mean “well planned” 😀
