I keep trying to get back into painting. I keep pestering The Other Half to let me buy some BattleTech ‘Mechs. The problem I have is I don’t know where to start. Its been about 8 years since I last painted anything. Is GW still producing the best paints; who sells the ‘must buy’ brushes; does Hal really enjoy naked Orcs? These questions and more bubble to the surface whenever I consider painting. I decide finding out is likely more trouble (and expense) than its worth and go find something else to spend my money on.

GW never produced the best paints 😉

My favourite paints are from Reaper (and they’ll sell you some quite acceptable brushes while you’re at it). Or, any brush with a good point will work.

I suspect we would both need some of that. I might have to check out Reaper paints, then, Smith.

My group is finishing up the 2nd kingmaker book so for me it would be trolls and a giant owlbear

That, actually, used to work wonders for me back-in-the-day, Melkior. Going, “hm, I need a maximum of 16 orcs, 12 goblins and 2 Owlbears for the next game. Oh and half a dozen Skelly-bobs!” and then making sure I had them ready was a great motivator. It also meant that the games looked better, more colourful, and it actually encouraged me to — you know — do that whole ‘planning ahead’ thing.

Not having used Miniatures for so long for roleplay, I suppose that might be why I fell out of the painting tree.
