Separated by many miles, yet brought together through remarkable advances in SCIENCE, the Whartson Hall Aethernauts embark on a voyage to the wondrous future!

    *

It is 1902 and the discovery of the R.force is changing the direction of mankind’s future. The world is gripped with excitement about space travel and fears of what flying battleships might mean for the safety of nations. In Yorkshire, Lord and Lady Redgrave are preparing for a return to the moon, to further explore the mysterious lunar pyramid and discover what caused the death of an entire civilisation. This time, however, the trip will not be mere sightseeing, but a full scientific expedition staffed with some of the finest candidates from across England. And Lady Hester Valentine and Dr James Crowther, of course.
WARNING – May contain ukulele and knob gags.

The Game: Forgotten Futures by Marcus L. Rowland. This adventure, Moon ’02, is taken from Forgotten Futures II: The Log of the Astronef. Thanks to Professor Elemental[/url] for so kindly allowing to use an excerpt from his songs in the introduction. The 3D representation of the Astronef is by Mateen Greenway and is used with his permission; further images can be found at his website.

The Whartson Hall Aethernauts play through the Google+ Hangouts facility rather than face-to-face in a room. Despite our best efforts, listeners may find some reduction in sound quality as a result.

I hope I’m commenting the correct episode. The reason they put Vera in a spacesuit, was that it was not a vacuum rated rifle. She’s well oiled and the oil would loose all it’s volatiles and turn into a sticky mess. That would screw up the firing mechanism. Anyway, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

I think you might have put more thought into this than Joss Whedon did 😀

According to the commentary on the series DVD they had talked to an expert, who said they needed to put Vera in a suit. Then afterwards found out that the “expert” was wrong. Still, you’d have problems with vacuum welding, overheating rounds or freezing them too much. But the general consensus is that Jayne would have been able to get a couple of shots off before Vera gummed up and was rendered useless.
