Lindsay's Spine

Hey folks

Those of you who follow Lindsay and I on Facebook may be aware that she is going in for spinal surgery this morning.

She has been in constant lower back pain for a good while now and has been under the care of a pain management doctor.

She is having a spinal decompression surgery from L2 down to S1 which involves a three inch incision and the carefully cleaning out the material (bone, tendon and cartilage) that is squeezing her spinal cord.

She has just been loaded up with Versed and taken down to surgery. When she is done she will have one or two or more days in hospital depending on how it goes and what they fine and then we will be heading home to recoup.

I’ll keep you guys informed as to how things go.

She has been pretty quiet about it but I guess the time is here so you guys may as well know 🙂

 

She is a little trooper and she will do great. This is the same surgeon that did her previous spinal surgery (discectomy with plating and fusion in her neck) and he is pretty awesome so she is in good hands.

 

Hate this bit where I have to wait to get her back 🙁

Just got an update – she went into surgery at 8.36 Central US Time and it is posted to take 2 and a half hours.

I hope she took my suggestion to go for the full bionics package. I’m sure that insurance will cover it 🙂

I just hope she is happy with the surgery and that we don’t get a slightly different Lindsay (maybe spelled Lyndsee or some such) in a few weeks with vague hints about what happened to the other Lindsay.  😀
