Found this thread on Reddit, which features a link to a collection of the puns and anagrams Gygax & co. peppered the early D&D settings with – for example:
- Drawmij: = Jim Ward’s PC; Ward wrote Metamorphosis Alpha.
- Otiluke: = Otis + Luke; Otis was Luke Gygax’s PC in the Temple of Elemental Evil; Luke is one of Gary Gygax’s sons.
- Vecna: = Vance = Jack Vance, a favorite fantasy author of Gygax’s.
