I don’t think I’ve posted before, but I just wanted to say Thanks 🙂 – I’m really enjoying listening to the BaneWarrens, and this episode was no exception.

    Thanks Lindsay – it’s a D&D mini that I repainted.

I probably won’t be posting much (I’m not really a talker), but I just wanted to let you know that the silent (and addicted) masses are out here, waiting with poised mice to click on each new session as it appears. 😉

Session 7: how 1st Edition was that?

Round 1: Fighter attacks demon 1.

    Demon 1 summons demon 2.

Round 2: Fighter attacks demon 1.

    Demon 1 attacks fighter.

    Demon 2 summons demon 3.

Round 3: Fighter attacks demon 1.

    Demon 1 attacks fighter.

    Demon 2 summons demon 4.

    Demon 3 summons demon 5.

Round 4: Fighter attacks demon 1 (which is maybe looking nearly dead by now).

    Demon 1 attacks fighter.

    Demon 2 attacks fighter.

    Demon 3 summons demon 6.

    Demon 4 summons demon 7.

    Demon 5 summons demon 8….

I think we can all see where this one’s going….

In 3rd Ed they added in a “summoned demons can’t summon any more” thing but I don’t know if that applies to the specific encounter because, the way I heard it, the demons weren’t the ones doing the actual summoning. Best find a way to destroy demon eggs then eh? 🙂

It has to be said that there is a lot in the Banewarrens that is rather rules bending. Not only is it set on 3.0 and we are running it in 3.5 but there is some distinct fudging required to make some of it work!

It is all going to prove that d20 really isn’t designed to support a plot 😛

    Quite true, especially 3.5

Much of the focus is for miniature-based skirmish wargamming as there is so much money in the Warhammer market.

My gaming group elected to stay with 3.0 as many people didn’t feel like buying new books and a lot of the changes wheren’t appealing. Sadly I guess this means we can’t be RPGA certified. Oh the shame.

I have yet to listen to session 7, but my group just finished the BW module. This particular fight caused the DM to create specific mass party retreat rules. As I recall, only two characters, of a party of 6, were even still standing by the end of this fight.

That sounds about right! The party were sly and clever to manage to get out of there in one piece!

It is not an easy room and the worst thing is that it is so close to the start of the level. 😀

    Quote:
Cleric: I cast my last healing spell and I heal him for 14 hit points.

Barbarian: I now come out of Rage and lose exactly 14 hit points which is just enough to kill me. Well actualy it’s exactly enough to leave me on 1 so if you’d got 13 or less then I’d be dead.

    Talk about sheer fluke :).
