BTW, do you have any more stories about your son's experiences, playing a goblin PC in an all-elf group? Sounds like a great recipe for disaster... Err, I mean: fun!
I do have those sessions available for watching or listening at www.worldofskell.freeforums.net. I did not want to put them here for fear of over saturating this site with too much content. I figure normal size doses of the world of skell are appropriate.
As far as stories go, I will say he was not interested in learning which die to use or what the rules were but he made up for it in trying to roleplay a good goblin. I picked that character because I thught it would parallel his entry into an adultish type game. He is thirteen and an avid xbox gamer so at times he had to wait his turn more than he would have liked but I would consider his foray into our hobby a success and he would like to play again.
BTW, I recently bought an XTC CD on Amazon solely because you said of your Slideways game that "All of the adventures were based on or inspired by songs by the band XTC, Swindon's finest." I thought "If someone can be into a band enough and in such a way that they base their RP sessions on the band's songs, this band has GOT to be worth checking out!"
Great band and cool idea. Been a fan of theirs since I heard "Dear God" then picked up their other stuff.
I always hope it's good but ya never know until it's too late. I will say this, as DM I do have a couple o'shenanigans prepared. Usually the players do enough shenan on their own that I do not need to igans them.
