#98933 Does BAG still record?

Posted by Reverse on 22 August 2017 - 09:18 PM

The site is under development and new uploads have ceased until development is done - hence the long quiet. There are a few groups uploading elsewhere onto Youtube and Google Drives until it's done.

Have a look at the Roleplaying forum here, where I make 4 or 5 different topics linking to other groups game uploads :)

#98931 [New Audio] The World's Most Wondrous Year, a Savage Worlds Pulp Adventure

Posted by Reverse on 21 August 2017 - 08:02 PM

For those out there whose are feeling audio file deprived while RPGMP3 sits in development limbo, we have new audio for you (courtesy of Google Drive as downloadable MP3 files).

Sugar Fuelled Gamers presents The World's Most Wondrous Year, a Savage Worlds Pulp Adventure. As of this posting, it sits at 36 episodes, recorded from the very first session, and we intend to play the campaign to the finish. Until RPGMP3 rises from it's grave like the altered beast of yore, this thread is to serve as the new episode update, and general discussion thread for anyone who wants to comment!

It is 1899, the turn of the 20th Century. 23 years after extraordinary British scientist Phileas Fogg went around the World in 80 Days, he now seeks to better his own feat – to travel to any seven destinations on the planet, no matter how far, within the year. Fogg will then justifiably become the head of the Royal Academy of Science. There’s just one problem. Phileas Fogg is a cad, philander, murderer, and monster. Only a small group of heroes know the truth, and only they can stop him in an adventurous race around the world!

This is a pulp adventure in the style of Indiana Jones, with our heroes travelling the world and facing adventures from a variety of different pulp-filtered genres, from Mystery, Mummies, Pulp Archeology (death-traps!), light Horror, Espionage, and are heading into Time Travel and Dinosaur Safari.

Starring:

  • Jared as the GM
  • Helen as 'Pittsburgh' Pete Morrison, square jawed American hero
  • Miriam as Dr Johnathan Hannah, renowned mummy-phobic Egyptologist with shifty eyes
  • Susan as Dr Amanda Strange, rich dillentante, occultist, scientist, and general eccentric who believes her cat can talk to her, and is inhabited by her dead husband's spirit.
  • Mara Priscilla Mimieax, time travelling 10 year old Eloi girl from the ruined future.
  • Grant as Bernard Pendlebury / James Fogg, allegedly a simply butler, but secretly Phileas Fogg's thought-murdered brother.
  • Jan as Jeremy Wright, mad clockwork scientist
  • Yerin as Special Investigator Rosemary Darling, British police officer.

System: Savage Worlds, Pulp Edition
Special Notes: This is a slightly homebrewed version of Savage Worlds, set up for Pulp rules and based on the Thrilling Tales sourcebook. We've made some skill changes and added a travel system, but it's mostly Savage Worlds in all it's glory.
Frequency of sessions: 3 sessions in a month, very consistently
Length of sessions: Around 2.5 - 3 hours, consistently.
Special Thanks To:

  • Pinnacle Entertainment Group (PEG), makers of Savage Worlds.
  • Intro music "Jade" by Scott Buckley http://www.scottbuck...u/library/jade/ used with permission under Creative Commons License.
  • Our Egyptian Adventure "The Strange Expedition and... The Secrets of Sekhmet!" is strongly inspired by The Shadows of Sekhmet, an Any-System Key Scenario by Peter Schweighofer.
  • Our Transylvanian Adventure "The Strange Expedition vs... The True Terrors of Transylvania!" is an adaption of The Trial of the Beast, Paizo's second book of the Carrion Crown Adventure Path.
  • Our Amazon Adventure "The Strange Expedition vs... The Crocodile Cult!" is an adaption of PEG's free pulp Savage Worlds adventure, The Eye of Kilquato.

#98928 The end

Posted by Reverse on 17 August 2017 - 06:01 PM

Worked for me, kendolyne (at least for the Avatar files, all that I was interested in and didn't already have). Thanks for taking the initiative to keep them preserved!

#98829 New APs, starting halfway through, seeking forum wisdom

Posted by Reverse on 03 April 2017 - 10:45 PM

Here, hopefully!

I've got voiceover intros already done at the start of the files referencing RPGMP3.com (like Lockhart's ones), and no burning desire to redo them all to put them elsewhere.

Just waiting (im)patiently on the site to start up again and harassing Hal periodically :)

(We even have the requisite RPGMP3 Lost Episode in my pile!)

Thanks guys, looking back on this the advice has been helpful. 40+ episodes in the can already :)

(Fun to listen to as a GM, too. Good for remembering what it is that I've said at various points!)

#98512 New APs, starting halfway through, seeking forum wisdom

Posted by Reverse on 22 September 2016 - 02:44 PM

Thanks for the advice, team. I'll continue to put a few more episodes in the bag so I'm starting with something other than just a single, then I'll contact Hal to see about getting them uploaded.

As to the in media res campaigns, I think an opening, broad-strokes intro should sell it nicely. (The Gamer's Haven podcast Deadlands campaign begins with an intro episode that covers what appears to be the previous entire campaign to set up this one, which is odd, but does actually work).

While people need to know the general overview, whether the PCs had a random encounter with goblins or not in session 3 seems less relevant.

#98493 New APs, starting halfway through, seeking forum wisdom

Brains, brains, give me your brains...

So, after years of listening through a ton of free entertainment in the form of APs from RPGMP3 and other such sites...

I now have a decent quality recorder at last, the capacity to edit bits and pieces with Audacity, and a general desire to upload some APs.

I seek the general wisdom of the site:

  1. Uploading here - you are presumably looking for more content to add? Is the method of doing so to PM Hal for more super-secret details?
  2. In terms of file sizes vs quality, what do people recommend in kbps for recording purposes (or what to put them up on the site as)? How much should I be concerned with file size?
  3. I have one campaign starting fortuitously at the right time to have begun taping for the very first session, however others are mid-way through. I have a Masks of Nyarlathotep campaign (CoC) that is around halfway though already, and a Kingmaker (Pathfinder) campaign mid-way through Book 2. Obviously I'd need to record a "first" episode giving an introduction and a synopsis of what's bought it to this point. How interested are people in campaigns that don't get in on the ground floor? Is it worth the effort of editing and uploading them?
  4. In one game, we have a toddler and a baby up for the first hour or so of game. It's not generally too disruptive (minus the odd loud shout of "I'm rolling Mummy's dice!". Is this likely to put people off?

#93186 Lockhart is dreamy...

Posted by Reverse on 21 September 2014 - 05:09 PM

Hello all,

As I went to introduce myself, it occured to me that I actually haven't listened to anything on the site that doesn't contain Lockhart in some fashion or another.

The Yorkton Gamer's Jade Regent drew me in and has served as a great inspiration to my own running that campaign (but - alas - now we have passed their current point, so no more stealing scenes and gaining the credit from my wife for being 'creative'!). It was followed up by the full current run of Shattered Star, then everything else the YGG has put out.

(OK, I've also heard the full run of Strand Gamer's Kingmaker campaign. But that totally undermines my point and therefore Lockhart's percieved dreaminess).

However, I will doubtlessly be trying everything here sooner or later. The site has provided weeks of entertainment (quite literally, given I must have listened to 400+ hours of audio at this point) over the course of months now.

Thanks to all those who make the effort to get these files together and up!

The Listeners are Out There. From across the globe, we hear you...
