Runequest 2nd Edition!

We decided to give the old girl a whirl and see if it was as much fun to play as it was in 1980.  Turns out the answer is, “Yes!”

Back in the day, I was in the camp that loved the RQ rules system, but couldn’t ever find an entry point to Glorantha that I could slip in to.  That left me running home-brew settings and making house-rules to make RQ fit my vision of a game world.

Over the years, Glorantha became much more compelling to me.  When the idea of an RQ campaign started surfacing, I thought I would try to have my cake and eat it too, (what does that phrase really mean, anyway?) by plunking down my own setting in Glorantha.

Thus, Feyaldir was born!  It is a sub-continent, of the coast of Fronela in the Neliomi Sea.  In the north, the climate is cold and snowy, in the south it is temperate and forested.  It is inhabited by native human peoples (The Ostari), Mostali, Aldryami, etc.  Orlanthi people attempted a colony on Feyaldir and brought some of their gods and culture with them.

This is a story about a group of young Ostari hunters (and a couple of others), seeking their place in the Snow Hawk clan.  They need to prove themselves by hunting down a bear…a big bear…

The Players
Dan – Uldur Frostbane
Dave – Kahar
Scott – Seamus Nickeldigger
Tony – Tothgar
Bob – Uram
Drew – Elrin
John - GM

I have it on good authority that our Runequest 2e game is in the pipe and is soon to be ejected onto the listening public. 😀

Seems we are back fixed and secure with any luck... (again)

I will be releasing content from The Vault over the next few days and then I am going to establish a release schedule so we can avoid these feast or famine moments as much as possible :)

How does that sound?

Hal :hal:

Sounds like sweet, sweet music.  :D

We've been gone for awhile, but we're coming back soon.  Here's a subtle clue as to what we're bringing...

Hi Cob!

Welcome back, and I'm glad to see a fellow Missourian!  :D

I'm from Bonne Terre, so fairly close, as the crow flies.

#96083 Traveller Season 02 Session 03

Posted by ThistledownJohn on 20 May 2015 - 06:57 AM

I just gave all of these a re-listen.  I have three comments...

1) Listening to these is great fun.   :D

2) The intro is absolutely lovely.  :D

3)  I will rename the class of ship, "Pinnace" to something else entirely, when I run Traveller.   :D

Now, we're here...

Note - These people said that while they would not cater a same-sex marriage, they would happy serve gay couples in their restaurant.  Most media outlets omit the "serving gay people in our restaurant" bit.  It took me awhile to find one that didn't...

While I'm at it, here are a couple of snaps from the game.  We've been using minis and 3D terrain quite extensively.  In later sessions, I used some dungeon and cavern tiles that I crafted.

Here is the bandit camp...

Well if opinions can be made civily I don't see why you need restraint.

Please don't misunderstand...me making my opinion known civily is not at all an issue.  It's just that sometimes discussion of these things can go all pear-shaped pretty quickly.  :D

I thank you, Lockhart.  You've encouraged me to proceed by your good-spirited comment.  :D

Many people of faith, like me (I'm a Roman Catholic) have long felt under attack by the culture and the U.S. government.  We feel a time coming when we may have to make a decision between breaking the law and upholding the tenets of our faith.  This could center around issues of abortion, birth control, traditional marriage, and probably a few other things.  I would guess that this is the thinking behind the writing of laws like we are seeing in Indiana.  I would tend not to believe that they come from an attempt to marginalize certain groups of people, but to ensure that our government abides by the Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment.

I do understand how some groups fear that the law could be used a screen to get away with discriminatory behavior.  This is a valid concern.

From a Catholic perspective, the role of secular governmental bodies is to provide for the common good of those that they serve.  I'm not exactly sure that this law does that.  I do know that discrimination against someone based on who they are (not the things the do, that can be justifiable grounds for discrimination) is not good at all.  I know that a government that would curtail religious expression and practice is not good at all, either.

We current have laws that guard against both of these situations, so I suppose I don't see the need for this additional one, in my opinion.

42 downloads this week? That's gotta be a record for us.  :D

I'm sure it's all due to our stellar role-play and not to the juggernaut of popularity that is 5E.  ;)

There's even a handful of handy maps, session summaries, and a plethora of character portraits, including several that appear to have been, ahem, "borrowed" from Baldur's Gate II. ;)

Yes..."borrowed".  I'll give them back when I'm done. Really, I will.  ;)
