Savage Worlds Campaign: Rippers Resurrected

02 July 2017 - 07:34 AM

Hi there,

Our gaming group has been trying the Rippers Resurrected Savage Worlds campaign these days.

It takes place in 1898 Victorian England to start. The first plot point runs eleven episodes, and we are currently about fourteen sessions in.

Rippers is a roleplaying game of gothic supernatural horror, where
Victorian era monster hunters—the Rippers—fight the fearsome creatures of
the night.

"Battle not with monsters, lest ye become a monster, and if you gaze into
the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you."

--Friedrich Nietzsche

Rippers fight the terrors of the night: werewolves, vampires, and other
horrors that stalk the earth preying on humanity. These foul monsters boast
superhuman strength and supernatural powers. The Rippers must use
everything at their disposal to resist them.

Some invest in the latest technology—incredible devices of iron and steel
powered either by steam or, more recently, by electricity. Others practice
ancient magic or perform holy miracles. A rare few bravely (or foolishly)
wield arcane biotechnology “ripped” from the very creatures they hunt.

Whatever the methods, all are united in their dedication to protect mankind
from the monsters that stalk the night. The Rippers’ struggle against evil
rages on largely unknown to the wider world.

Savage Worlds was written by Shane Lacy Hensley and published by Pinnacle
Entertainment Group. The game emphasizes speed of play and reduced
preparation over realism or detail. The game received the 2003 Origin
Gamers' Choice Award for best role-playing game.

Savage Worlds: East Texas University

30 November 2016 - 12:24 AM

Howdy,

Our group tried out the East Texas University ruleset a while back.  It's mainly Savage Worlds, with a few tweaks.

In the Texas town of Pinebox, football is king and something with tentacles is lurking in the local swimming hole. In this Savage Worlds variant, you might battle chupacabras or zombies, but you still have to ace your geology final tomorrow.  East Texas University positions the players as students at the titular fictional school. Immersed in Texas culture and collegiate drama, they'll also face cultists, demons, ghosts, and the rest of the usual cast of supernatural baddies. It's Buffy meets Dresden meets Animal House.

ETU was written by Preston DuBose and Ed Wetterman of 12 to Midnight.  Savage Worlds was written by Shane Lacy Hensley and published by Pinnacle Entertainment Group. The game emphasizes speed of play and reduced preparation over realism or detail. The game received the 2003 Origin Gamers' Choice Award for best role-playing game.

This limited series spans eleven episodes covering freshman year.
