English comedy is great! I like the movie Blackball - mainly as it must be the only movie ever made about crown green bowling (Do Americans do that or is it just us over here? - not that I do it!)

Well worth a watch also due to the excellent presence of Bernard Cribbins (who I remember from being a kid :D )

Hal :hal:

WARNING!! Do not get it confused with Black Ball which is about racisit real estate developers, although it was released in the same year :D

Some do.

Used to be big in the retired folks circles but apparently it is catching up with the youths.

Or if you are in the UK Crown Green Bowling Association :P

In either case the movie is pretty funny :D

I like the movie Blackball - mainly as it must be the only movie ever made about crown green bowling (Do Americans do that or is it just us over here? - not that I do it!)

I've played bocce at a pizza restaurant a few times, but that's about as close as I ever came to even knowing something like crown green bowling existed, before now.

I love stuff like this. It seems like every RPG session you guys record includes a "Do they have that in America?" conversation, and the answer is usually yes (I believe we can even provide you with fish and chips), but then there are all these other things you guys will mention that baffle me completely. Usually it's the food. You guys will be eating--or just disucssing--long lists of mysterious junk food, like a scene out of the Omar, Abdul and Shafiq bits on Monkey Dust. I have no clue what a Hobnob is.

Ah, the Internet: Where all colors, creeds, and nationalities can meet to discuss inconsequential trivia.

EDIT: And now I'm listening to the whole "womble scrotum" conversation, which is also quite mysterious to me. I love this.

Look at their blue furry scrotums. Or imagine at least. Except for the lady one, who was French so she might have had one as well :D

The Japanese tanuki folklore is even more bizarre and nutsack-focused than Ars Magica's beavers.

Actually, it apparently is the same guy. Both an actor and a singer, apparently.

It seems that the microphone is more "active" in these recordings, there are brief periods, especially following louder outbursts, where the conversation is dampened as the microphone adjusts it's automatic gain to the new room tone.

Or, I am losing my mid range hearing, also a distinct possibility....

Talking of furry scrotums (which, apparently, we are 8O ) I watched Pom Poko (Studio Ghibli) last night. Very strange. Kamikase racoons attacking riot police with their giant testicles... :D
