Forgotten Futures: Weirdzone 03: Just the bill, please.

ForgottenFuturesNewCoverImage_zps088aae6

Separated by many miles, yet brought together through remarkable advances in SCIENCE, the Whartson Hall Aethernauts embark on a voyage to wondrous futures past!

As the sounds of conflict die away and hearing returns to “Earwig” and Lady Parkhurst, Sir George deems it safe to finish his smoke and leave the linen closet. The immediate threat of becoming dinner having been replaced by the possibility of starving to death, the unwilling travellers ransack the house for food, before arriving at a new location in rather dramatic fashion. It all seems pleasant and civilised enough, but it doesn't take long to realise that the natives may not be friendly.

The Game: Forgotten Futures by Marcus L. Rowland. The adventure setting is adapted from Weirdzone by Richard Tucholka and Tri Tac Games. Karma Kards are published for various systems by aethereal FORGE.
Intro and outro musical excerpts are by that most splendid gentleman Professor Elemental, used with his kind permission.
The Whartson Hall Aethernauts play through the Google+ Hangouts facility rather than face-to-face in a room. Despite our intensive efforts, listeners may find some reduction in sound quality as a result. This is an important problem and we're not going to duck the issue.

The Players:
Amelia: Lady Lettie Parkhurst
Nick: ”Earwig” Carnehan
Tim: Sir George Mathers
Jon: The GM

Excellent. Can't wait to listen to this.  Will Earwig continue to try and break the laws of probability and his arms? I hope that the karma evens out a little this episode.

I am enjoying the interplay between Sir George and Earwig.

Re: Nick's complaints about the 3 Musketeers chocolate bar, apparently it originally "had three pieces in one package, flavored chocolate, strawberry and vanilla, hence the name. Rising costs and wartime restrictions on sugar saw the phasing out of the vanilla and strawberry pieces to leave only the more popular chocolate".

(Incidentally, on the last episode of your superhero game, BJB was not-so-subtly encouraging listeners to send gifts of chocolate to Whartson Hall, and now you're continuing the choccy debate - subliminal reinforcement, perhaps?) ;)

Possibly the best quote of the episode: "Does anyone in Richmond know which wine goes with ruffian?" (IIRC, the answer is: "a nice Chianti".)

And boy, is BJB going to feel silly about dismissing the notion of a "dinosaur with a tail on top of its head" out of hand, when the players track down a parasaurolophus. :P

Astute listeners might notice a link between this part of the ongoing adventure and a game we recorded a few years ago :)

Bourbon Hendrix may have to step up to save our inadvertent Victorian explorers. Another fine session. I also thought I heard a reference to one of my favorite UHF jokes in there as well.

You did. It's Nick's fault, he's the one who mentioned it a few months ago and it's cropped up occasionally ever since :D

"Tell them we are English!"
What an awesome idea. I think my other favorite quote was along the lines of "Dinosaurs don't have guns, ducks do." Taken out of context that is such a hilarious statement. Or maybe I was just way too tired while listening.

Aw, you're just jealous at how much the fans loved the X-Sheep that @riddles introduced in his Squaddie UK game, and now you want to show off your own mutated barnyard animals. :)

Looks like that BBCode got a little mangled.

With the reference to the Cain Mutiny is Earwig much older than he lets on? Did he witness the attack on Abel? :)

You know, I'm beginning to think that Earwig might, um, embroider the truth now and then...

I must say that I do love how the missing PCs are handled.

Last night's session had two players, so expect more hiding in cupboards from different characters :D

It's an expected part of this game, since we only play it when there aren't enough people for whatever main game is being run. Consequently, there's little point in getting hung up on the realism of why some characters are suddenly indisposed, we just get on with playing. More than most of our adventures, this one was always going to be a bit choppy and inconsistent, but so far everyone appears to be having fun.

It's great fun to listen to. I like all of the characters in it and some of the dice rolls are spectacular. Nice to see Sir George rise to the challenge that Earwig had set.

I really need to not listen to these back to back. The discussion of the number of remaining elephant gun bullets made me want to shout, at least it got sorted correctly. ;)

Yay! :)

Is it weird that I'm vaguely chagrined about falling behind in my listening?

One day all this will all come to an end, then you can feel smug about your sensible rationing of the audio :)

New session will be appearing imminently, by the way...

I for one believe there aren't enough games out there with anthropomorphic fowl so thanks for bringing back the duck troopers!
