I was really sad about Robin Williams.

He always seemed a little sad to me. But I get that from a lot of comedians... I guess they are just ahead of the curve in realizing where we are all heading...

It was such a shock. It's always odd when a celebrity you grow up watching passes. There's a strange dichotomy of feeling like you know them when if course you don't at all.

Good Night, Vietnam.

Spotted this over on the Black Diamond Games Facebook page and thought it was a nice sentiment.

Robin Williams emerged on the scene in 1978 as a very strange Mork on Mork & Mindy, when odd and strange was subversive and suspect. This was also around the same time D&D hit it big in the US, with the first box set under many a kids Christmas tree -- also considered subversive and suspect. That these two are linked in my mind should not be too surprising. Neither should it be surprising Robin Williams was a gamer, mostly Warhammer 40K but also D&D. There were regular sightings of him at Bay Area game stores. I don't care much for celebrity culture, but Robin Williams was one of us.

Also, it wasn't a coincidence that he named his daughter 'Zelda'.
