I am kind of loving this idea - I think it might be time for some of the site art folks to give it a go with iconic DnD monsters :)

No because that was a painting done from scratch.

It is more like what Banksy did with the painting from a charity store - but with gelatinous cubes or something :)

I think you should give it a try Monkey... maybe we could put them up for a site competition or something :)

I think I may have some pictures that fit the thrift store description. I'll see if I'm allowed to dispose of them--er, help with the cause.

Of course, I may feel inspired to slap a beholder onto some happy trees as well.

I've done this digitally before. A dragon in the sunset, turning the full moon into the death star, turning babies into vampires, etc. But due to a faulty hard drive (and my lack of backups), I've lost everything I've ever done and have to start fresh. I'm not far from having my physical paint station set up so maybe I'll do acrylics again for a while. Have to hit some thrift shops next, I guess.

Awesome :)

It would work digitally too I guess if you somehow scanned the bad thrift image in :)

Sorry to hear about your HDD :( The really blows!

Looks like Weezer have decided to make the first image Hal posted their new album cover.

I think there is a goldmine hereabouts.

Saw this on Reddit: Dogs Playing D&D. :)

(Incidentally, if anyone's looking for an unusual present for Feylin's Bulging Bag, the painting appears to be for sale.)

On a somewhat related note, here's an article about Dave Devries, who "takes sketches of monsters drawn by children purely from their imagination and renders them realistically giving them a truly devilish look. His collection of drawings and paintings form a 48-page book 'The Monster Engine'".
