It crops up here and there, so I thought I would make a central thread to put my baby news in. For those of you that have missed the odd posts, back the first part of May, my wife (then fiancee) and I found out that we were expecting our first little bundle of joy. The doctor's estimate was that my wife was about 5-6 weeks along based on hormone levels. So we went back for an ultrasound to confirm the estimate. Imagine our suprise (and the doctor's), when we weren't 5-6 weeks along, but 25-26 weeks along. Needless to say that was an even heftier shock.

Estimated Due Date is August 18. We go back in a couple of weeks for another ultrasound to confirm this.

The good news is that the baby seems healthy despite our not knowing, heart rate's normal and the doctor doesn't see any abnormalities. :)

So remember folks, the pill is only 99% effective, and in our case actually masked some of the symptoms we would have seen otherwise.

Did she have a cold, take antibiotics, cross the dateline? (all reasons friends of mine found that 1% was 100%!).

The main thing is that all is OK and you're looking forward to it all! :)

Oh and if you get a chance, try the gas and air - it's ace! :D

None of the above as far as we can tell.

Well, it looks like we're probably in our final week. My wife started having warm-up contractions on Sunday night and they seem to be relatively regular. We're not headed to the hospital yet by any means, but I doubt this will drag on into next week.

Heh. I'm a nervous wreck right now as it is. I don't handle anticipation well. My appetite's off and my attention span is next to nil. I'll be better once she actually goes into labor and we know the baby's truly on its way. She seems to be okay with everything that's going on. The contractions aren't bad yet. She misses them if she's not paying attention. Of course, I haven't talked to her today (I leave work in about an hour) and things may have progressed while I've been at work.

And her mother is staying with her right now, before anyone gets the idea that I just left her all by herself.

Congradulations!!!

Now begins the sleepless nights, the soiled nappies (diapers), the screaming, the tanrums.

Then move onto the trebble twos.

And then you've got the teenage years to look forward to.

They growup leave home have more kids (who call you granny or granpa), and eventually put you away in a home.

Good luck. :P

Great News! :D

And ignore Will_Save - all that is true, but they more than make up for it in so many other ways...

(though it can be trying when they get hold of your heroclix and decide they need to go swimming... :( )
