Given the setting, are we that surprised?

No, not really.

'ah, Si-, er, Mad-, er, yes', this is quite an achievement. You'll excuse me if I don't shake your hand.

You are escorted from the publisher's office and questioned by constables. Your work gives nine hundred readers nightmares and closes four schools. Women scream and faint as you pass in the street. Sales are excellent. You receive an unexpected bonus: late one night, a stranger delivers a package of bottled souls to your door. You don't see his face, but a note with the package reads: 'Best wishes - Jack'

I really, really love the flavor text in this game. It strikes just the perfect line between pitch black comedy and outright horror. On a side note, is the 20-step candle permanent, or just for new residents? Only the last time I played I could swear we only got 10.

I think it's fixed at 20. You can buy a 40-candle though!

Also: I am already half crazy and lockart apparently as well...

I think it's because we both got those Rags of the 4th ruin or whatever they're called. Those were a huge Nightmare booster.

Also, Chew, how is it you beat me at everything? You can't possibly have all of your stats higher than me when we started around the same time, can you?

I'm at 13 13 11 12 right now, though watchful gets a +4 on top because of equipment (so does persuasive).

I've been taking a looooot of risky challenges :D 90%-->certain failure 12%--->somehow success.

We should probably do some sort of psychotherapy with each other... I've already hit 5 on Nightmares

So...How are you trouncing me each scuffle we get to? You have the advantage for Wisdom and Persuasion but...Clearly game just favours you.

Might be my sterling reputation with the fellas "down below" ;)

Or maybe fortune just favours the foolish

If you want we could counsel each others ravings of madness

I'm low on actions at the moment, and will need to stock up on some more insights first, so I have much chess playing to do it seems.

It also might be wise to spread out the nightmare stories to more sane folk, as each time we listen to each other, it seems out own nightmares go up a little.

It seems it reduces yours by 4 and raises the other persons by 1, so we could do it with just two people

I'm not sure where you get those numbers from. Maybe you were luckier in yours. But my gibbering to you reduced my nightmares by one step, down to 4. Listening to your gibbering increased mine by about a 1/3 of a point. So I'm sitting on 4 1/3 Nightmares.

I meant 4 "increments" (maybe it was 3, I dunno) so 4 "increments" = 1 step in this case.

Or that is how it looks to me anyway

Still. Would be more efficient for us to play chess with each other and pawn our nightmare council on saner chaps.

As a spiritual Canadian, I'm perfectly willing to take on the crazy if need be, since I don't have any at all yet.

Excellent good sir. Maybe it's the crazies talking, or maybe I'm gifted with foresight, because either way, I think I did send you an invite to listen to my most endearing and not-at-all terrifying or doom-prophecying ramblings.

Oh, most definitely. I'm a good-natured rogue in a world where happy endings are few. Such is my lot, I suppose. ;)

On a side note, I somehow completely missed the "messages" tab. I could swear there was a little button higher on the hud. Either I need to stop trusting my memories or Fallen London really has changed a lot in the last year or so.

Have no fear, chum, for I am the same as I ever was! See, come closer and I will show you just how sane I am.
