What if you cast a healing spell to heal your assassin buddy as he was murderizing the innocent... Technically "Healing" is a good deed right?

Grey tis all grey!

To go one step further, what if I'm a paladin but I kill people?

I think it depends on the intent of the caster of the spell.

Cure Light Wounds for an example cast on an undead ally would surly be evil if the caster knew the ally was undead.

Necromancers typically are evil yes, but not always.  So casting a spell that is an "evil" aligned spell on someone who needs the spell (eg cause light wounds on an undead ally) is surely not evil.

My first thought when I saw "Evil Adventure Path" was that picture of the Antipaladin kicking the pig (from the ACG iirc? You know the one)

Better make a note, then:

  • Mentioning the blog section = creepy.
  • Animal abuse = really great. ;)

Actually, is it just me or did the person who drew that Antipaladin go to the Rob Liefeld school of Anatomy?

The anti-paladin has considerably more feet than that school normally teaches but influences are present.

It’s like if the Unseen University tried necromancy.

Actually there's a feat (srd attributes it to Ultimate Magic) called skeleton summoner that adds a couple skeletons to Summon Monster 1 and 3, and allows 1/day summoning a skeletal version of any of the existing choices. No alignment restrictions mentioned and only requires spell focus necromancy and the ability to cast summon monster. Would work with either summoner or a regular caster.

Funny :)

Maybe my next character needs to be some kind of necromancer and try to be good... Maybe I'll draw one up when I get a chance... see if it might work...

You could play a Necromancer in Rolemaster, right? ;)

That is true - there are a number of death focused classes in Rolemaster, including Necromancer. And the other benefit I assume you are highlighting is that there are less moral constraints in Rolemaster.

The only issue is that I don't know anyone who would run it so I could play him :)

You'd also have to beware the traditional spellcaster-disabling tactics, which are even more intimidating in Rolemaster...

Have you tried playing with yourself? ;)

I’m having way too much fun making up my own RPG alignments.

(Reblog this and watch the Rules Lawyers come out to tell you that the Y axis good-to-evil progression doesn’t make sense. )
