Wow, this is the Thistledunians at their finest. :) What the group may have lacked in numbers, it made up for in sheer enthusiasm and grognarditude. Three people with over a collective century's worth of cumulative gaming experience is a force to be reckoned with - at least when it comes to the anecdotes. ;)

Also, when Scott introduced his character Soren, and ThistleJohn's response was "He wishes he could fly" - that was almost a Whartson Hall-grade pun. :P

Really enjoyed the players' way of solving the classic conundrum: how to get enough firepower to survive an old-school D&D dungeon crawl.

"Well, we've only got an Elf and a Fighting-Man, so-"

"It's Fighter, actually"

"Sorry, Fighter. Anyway, with only two PCs, we'll never make it on our own. We've barely got umpteen electrum pieces to rub together, so we can't afford to hire henchmen, either. What do we do?"

*Looks over at other table in the tavern*

"Hey, look! There's a party of high(er)-level NPC adventurers right over there! Let's go ask 'em if we can be their henchmen. Umm, hench-demi-humans. Henchpeople. Whatever, let's go!" :)

Noticed another group's notes on their own play-through of the Keep on the Borderlands; although the Thistledunians are pretty resourceful when it comes to scrounging up NPC followers, they can't compete with Old Gumphrey's group. ;) (They even found a cunning use for those 241 'special' coins in the ogre's hoard.) ;)

So we cracked open the ol' Keep and gave it a go.

Brunhilda - N Female Dwarf (15 str, 5 dex); Sneed - N Female Elf (18 str, 6 wis, 7 con); Shea - N Male Thief (16 dex)

Not to mention the scene where the players debated which of their NPC hireling warriors was more macho, due to heightened levels of testosterone: Andros or Balli. ;)

Or the time where

Scott: "Can you sow this back on? I ain't got my head right now, but the dragon is sure to shit it out again, later." :(
