The Pantsless Gamers begin their Sci Fi Prison game...

Abandon All Hope Session 01

Filesize: 114MB

After some more character creation (yes, it rolled over into this session too), we embark upon a typical prison day in the life of Dave Skags & co. There's bitterness, envy, tension with other prisponers and even robot voice overs. Unfortunately this is the only recorded session of actual play of Abandon All Hope because the adventure went on hiatus and hasn't been picked up since (mostly due to outside influences).

Ah, so instead of having one of the infamous missing episodes, you went for an entire missing campaign? :) Thank you Hal & Pantsies.

Yes. Unfortunately there never was a session 2. We discuss it a few times but it never happens. Unfortunately while the game is rather rules light on everything not directly related to the random chance of demons popping up when people freak out on their fear, madness and guilt meters, the adventures are written by someone who likes a really rules heavy playstyle. But written for a rules light system.

It's as if the guy who wrote all the core rules (like the 2 page combat chapter) loved rules light systems then let his rule player mate write the traits section and the adventures themselves.

The Happy Rocks played all the way through an Abandon All Hope adventure. It was Alex's first time gm'ing for ages and halfway through a few of the players got bored and decided to fight and smash their way through the rest of the adventure with it's fiendishly complex puzzles or the one obstaclke that had only one solution. (Hint to adventure writers - never write a puzzle with only one solution. It reeks of console games from the 80's and a lack of imagination for freedom or player creativity).

By the end of that adventure Alex had kind of given up on ever wanting to run Abandon All Hope ever again. We did this session either in the latter stages of the other adventure or right afterwards and that probably didn't help. While we might play it again at some point in the future it's probably unlikely. We will try to upload some more stuff sometime soon 'though. Probably Dragon Age & Pathfinder (and that Kobolds Ate My Baby one off if we can get it to upload propperly for once).
