Guillermo Del Torro and James Cameron are making it.

As am I. As far as I remember from what I've heard, Del Torro's been trying to get this made for ages. The difficulty was that he was too faithful to the original book: no love interest, no sex appeal, that kind of thing.

Although James Cameron's name being attached enhances the "cautiously" part of my statement. Cameron's involvement adds an extra variable. On the one hand, this is probably only being made because he's here. On the other...well, when he's involved in a project, I either love it or hate it. As far as I can see, it can go either way.

Oh boy! I hope the first hour and thirteen minutes of it are devoted to checking cargo lists. It's very important when heading on an arctic expedition to ensure you have everything you need before you leave port and that some crazed chaos cultist hasn't tampered with it.

I hope you mean 'prequel' - unless the directors are really planning on filling the first 90-minute installment with job interviews... Posted Image

It's Guillermo del Torro, though. Remember, this is a man with enough talent to make even THAT interesting.

From what I hear, though, it'll be as close to the book as he can get away with. Wonder how that'll work out...

Sadly, this is no more. :(

It seems that del Toro (rightly, IMO) was insisting that the film would have an R rating, but Universal Studios wanted a PG13...

I still remain faintly optimistic that del Toro will get a different studio to take it on, but I'm not holding my breath.
