I've been listening to the Necessary Evil series in my car, but I found the quiet bits too soft to hear over the road noise, and cranking up the volume then blasted me when there was an outburst of laughter or excitement.
You may remember my 2006 thread suggesting some kind of audio compression. This time, I figured I'd try it firsthand to see for myself. I ran a short snippet of the show through the Cycling 74 Limi VST plugin, which I got free from a Computer Music magazine coverdisk ages ago. It made a tremendous difference at the computer. It hasn't yet been road tested, though.
