In a fit of shameless self-promotion, I thought I'd mention my new blog called Thistledown.

Please come on by an give it a read. I'd appreciate any comments that you'd like to make. Well...I'll read them. I'll only appreciate them if they are magnificently complementary! :D

Nice blog.

Reading about your stat rolling reminds me that my two favorite way to roll stats come from 1st edition Dungeons and Dragons.

Method II
All scores are recorded and . . . (arranged in the order the player desires). 3d6 are rolled 12 times and the highest 6 scores are retained.

Method III
Scores rolled are according to each ability category, in order . . . 3d6 are rolled 6 times for each ability, and the highest score in each category is retained for that category . . . (AD&D Dungeon Masters Guide pg. 11)

Never did really understand how people can argue that 1st edition characters were were intentionally designed to be less powerful stat wise than later editions when three of the four preferred methods provide high stat characters.

In a fit of shameless self-promotion...

Hey, it's certainly better than shameful self-promotion :D These are the Noughties, get up there and wave your geek flag ;)

As luck would have it I've finally worked out how to add blogs to my iPod, so I'll fit you in between Ken Hite and Jeff Rients.
