I realised today that in a couple of months time it will be five years since the start of the WLD recordings. How time flies.

I second that. I found this site whilst googling about for WLD related anything. I'd been disappointed when AEG's group of players crapped out so fast and wanted to see more of what the experience was like for players.

Come to think of it, a lot of Hal's comments in the review would be explained if that group that was on the AEG website was in fact the play-test crew and they only made it through half of the first area....

I am still going through the new stuff, but I think I will go back to listen again. They are what made me fall in love with the site.

Me, personally, I am still downloading them. I think I'm up to episode 14 by now. :)

Heck, yes ;) When we pick up new site users they will often start with the new stuff and then realise that WLD exists and download the whole lot in one go :)

We also still get people coming over specifically for it.

5 years. Wow. That is a long ass time. Paul, what was our official kick off date for WLD? I know it was somewhere around my birthday. The feed says 24th Septemer 2004 :) That sound right?

Here we go:

Balazaar's Book (JPEG, 206 KB)

I recently saw Demonix's WLD summaries again - they are still impressive!

I've only just started listening to WLD (after finally catching up with WH) and I have to say this is *really* enjoyable. I can easily see why the WLD audio is so popular.

I think that was discussed on the boards but discounted due to the length of the adventure and the general terribleness of the editing etc with WLD. :D

The original WLD was recorded at 64KBPS, I wonder if those are still around? Using an MP3Pro compatible player to listen to the originals is almost as good though (well, better than nothing anyway)!

I still have the original recordings :) I ran a few filters through them when I moved the file structure over to the new one but I still have the old raw MP3Pro ones :)
