Yoinks!... and away!!!

(Actually... it's a buck-and-a-quarter quarterstaff, but I'm not telling
HIM that.)

Ah, you can't go wrong with the classics.

Awesome! Girl sure can handle a fat Imperial sausage. :D Although they're all great, my favorite is Oskar - he looks so innocent and slightly gullible, like he belongs in a children's animated show. Leopold reminds me of another Looney Tune ("Which way did he go, George, which way did he go?"), who, according to Wikipedia, was based on the character of Lenny from John Steinbeck's 'Of Mice and Men'. Learning stuff from watching cartoons - who'da thunk it?
Dressing the Dwarf Tomb Raide... I mean, Tomb Robber up as Lara Croft is a nice touch - I tried doing the same with Lindsay's Halfling Tomb Robber back from the Oldenhaller Contract recordings, but you've captured Lara's pose and attitude much better. Nice paunch, too. :D
How much digital clean-up did you need to do with these? I tend to spend a lot of time fiddling about with light and contrast and removing all the smudges I've left on the paper because I'm too lazy to trace my sketches up on a clean sheet of paper.

And herein lies an oddity: I've always tended to picture .... women as curvy barmaid types, I guess :D

I think that's the real meaning of that sentence my dear

I'm sure this is just me but the picture of Oskar reminds me a little bit of Daffy Duck as Robin Hood.

I don't know . . . with that pic, my mind immediately went to Wile E. Coyote :P

Nice work, dude, especially on Leopold. Considered a career in animation?

Clean-up? Uh, none at all, actually. They're a bit grubby (it's been ages since I worked in pencil and I keep forgetting to stop resting my hand on the paper) but not enough to worry me. I just scanned them at 300dpi and e-mailed the resulting ginormous file to Hal. Not sure if he tidied them up, but it doesn't appear so.

Your way sounds very professional but far too much like hard work :D

Considered a career in animation?

Many times in the past. Indeed, I had an interview lined up with Disney in the nineties but decided I didn't want to live in France so I cancelled it. And of course I've no actual training in animation. I've done odds and ends of magazine work over the years, though.

Since people are saying what these drawings remind them of, I thought I'd weigh in. Your style reminds me of Asterix, BJB.

Well done, by the way.

Incidentally, it's been mentioned that the picture of David's character looks a bit like David himself. If so, it's entirely coincidental. The first version was a skinny bloke with buck teeth, but it didn't look at all right.

This version is dead on for his character.

WRT not wanting to work for Disney, the style looks more Chuck Jones than Walt Disney.

Someone please put up a side-by-side of David and Leopold.
