Haxxx is how a MMOLRPG censored my name once. I wrote it Hagay (now it's Haggai) and the game chat censored my name to Haxxx.

Errr, how is "Hagay" a naughty word or am I missing something completely obvious and/or foreign?? Is it because the word "gay" happens to appear in it?

Yup. That would be it...

I comment on a few blogs that won't allow the comment through if you use the word "socialist" or "socialism", because in it is the word "cialis", a word much loved by spambots...

I have a similar problem with some forums censoring my surname, which is Hancock. On one occasion I memorably became "Jon Hanthingy" :D

Welcome to the non-lurking side of the site, by the way! I like the Pratchett avatar.

I used to sign off stuff at work with my initials J O'M, or JOM for short. Thought I'd use that as a login to a forum but it wanted more letters... and thus Jomster was born! So in a way Hero Games was my father! 8O

Bit of a Hero fan by the way... don't suppose anyone with time and a recorder could do some Hero and post it to Hal could they? Pretty please!

It's on the list, but sadly quite a way down.... Pulp HERO or Justice Inc. most likely.

EDIT to add: And in breaking news, a mere year after moving house, this morning I found the three sets of HERO Dice I'd misplaced!

Simple enough:

Murine: Mouse-like or relating to mice. Fitting tribute to my idol, Gadget Hackwrench.

Archmage: Duh. Happen te enjoy playing mages.

Huh, for some reason my strange little brain always associated Murine with Mulhorand in the Forgotten Realms, though in retrospect I can't think why.

As snackgirl pointed out in (I think) the first thread I ever posted on, my name is simply stolen from one of my favorite characters in one of my favorite books, Diana Wynne Jones' Hexwood.

My name comes from a way of writing my initials. When joined together in a particular way they make "5M". I then expanded "M" out to "Monkeys". Voila! Instant BBS/internet pseudonym.

I'm sure I've written this somewhere before, but I'm kind of like Hal in that Riddles is based on my surname (Ridley).

I went through uni 1st time where most people didn't actually call me anything else (including most of my lecturers), and a fair few of my friends still call it me, to the embarasment of my kids...

I had a cool sword in a game and it needed a name. Went with Telemergion because it sounded cool. While later i was asked to input a unique username for... something... and I figured it was fairly unique. I've been using it for forums and junk ever since.

My username is my middle name. It's terribly convenient to use on the international cyber web as a username and such.

My Name is a tweaked version of ShoNuf the Shogun of Harlem from the movie "The Last Dragon". As a kid doing Kung Fu my friends would tease me when I couldn't do something and say Joseph can't do it, but JoeGun can. It then moved on to me saying things like: Who is the prettiest? JoeGun, Who is the baddest? JoeGun, Who is the Master? JoeGun. and so it has stuck around for the better part of 2 decades....man I'm getting old! haha

My first D&D character from first edition: Josol ka'Sileria ka'Tunari, elf fighter/mage/theif. He was a high elf until the DM saw the character portrait and thought he looked like a drow. Probably should have colored it.

Anyway, Josol didn't live long. Failed three poison saves crossing a volcanic barren, lungs filled with toxic gases. At level one. Yay for killer DM's. He did manage a jail break before that, though. Heh.

More thread necromancy for this one.

The first online name I ever used was Fool, which at the time was the sort of name that wasn't all that frequently taken and I have always liked it, although when I was young it was in a much more self destructive way.

Soon Fool by itself was almost always taken, so added the 2046 just because it was an okay number to remember.

I think this is going to be the last place I use fool2046 though, I've been phasing it out the last year or so, it's a little too individual, and I have used it a long time.

I'm paranoid what can I say.
